Mentorship celebration was a success

Two organizations in the community joined forces to sponsor a unique and interactive event in honor of National Mentoring Month. The Calvert County Minority Business Alliance (CCMBA) and Huntingtown High School coordinated and hosted the first annual HYPE Mini Business Expo. HYPE = Helping Youth Prefer Excellence and was named by the HHS students.

On 12/15/2010, SBA Administrator Karen Mills named Catherine L. Hughes, chairperson and founder of Radio One, Inc., and a former SBA borrower, to chair the agency’s new Advisory Council on Underserved Communities. The Council will provide input, advice and recommendations on how SBA through its programs can help strengthen competiveness and sustainability for small businesses in underserved communities. The business directories are a hit! For those who attended the Nov. 4 Networking Night, they were able to take their business directories with them. We would like to thank our speakers and the College of Southern Maryland and the Southern MD Small Business Development Center with helping to make the Nov. 4 Networking Night a huge success.
